Skateboarder to Ride 8,000 Miles, 35 States, in 100 Days for Cancer

Montgomery Village, MD, March 25, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Mark William, an instructor at Goskate.com, is riding his skateboard for 35 States, 100 days, and 8,000 miles. Mark's trip starts March 27th in White River Junction, VT. From there, he travels across the country to California before returning to his home in Montgomery Village, Maryland. He will skate about 80 miles per day in honor of his past grandmother and to raise funds for breast cancer research.

Mark will be gone a total of 115 days, and he will entering two skate contests on the way. The first in Tampa, FL, the famous, annual Tampa Am, at the Skatepark of Tampa, and the other in Atlanta, Ga. (Damn Am). Mark will be skating for 100 days of the 115 days. He starts this trip in White River Junction, Vermont then goes to Maine, then rides the whole East Coast down to Tampa, FL. He will arrive in Tampa around April 20th, and will spend six days recovering before competing in the Tampa Am.

Mark will then compete in Atlanta before riding to California on May 12th. He plans to make it to the West Coast in less than thirty days. Mark will travel on his board through the bottom of the country then back from California to his home in Maryland.

This will be Mark's fifth trip traveling on a skateboard. Previously, his largest trip was 7 states, 3.5 days in 2013. He skated 330 miles out of the 500 miles on route. He started in Rosslyn, VA and ended up in Richmond, Indiana. He bases his average miles for every day on what he's done on the past trips, and he feels good with 80 miles which ends up being 12 hour days with 30 minute breaks every 20 to 30 miles.

Besides the benefit of money going to breast cancer, Mark has a few other dreams. He wants to open his own skate shop, called Certy's. He also wants to help teach people about skateboarding. Go Skate, America's largest skate school, will be connecting Mark with beginner skaters to teach on his way. Mark will teach skateboard lessons scheduled through GoSkate.com in advance. He will be teaching skateboarding lessons for one hour from 12pm to 1pm or 1pm to 2pm.
