Dr. Applegate to Join Advisory Board at Peptineo
Albuquerque, NM, April 07, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Peptineo is pleased to welcome Dr. Robert Applegate to the advisory board of Peptineo. Dr. Applegate is a recognized expert in microfluidics, biomedical devices and optical technologies. As a result of his research, Dr. Applegate holds patents in optical trapping, cell diagnostics and sorting, and microfluidic methods. Dr. Applegate is a veteran to research and development with multiple startup companies in a wide range of themes. His background includes microfluidic cell manipulation, portable flow cytometry, acoustic cell manipulation, next generation DNA sequencing, and nano droplet cosmeseuticals. Dr. Applegate brings a large breadth of experience to Peptineo.
Dr. Applegate earned his Ph.D. in Applied Physics from the Colorado School of Mines developing optical tweezer technologies which then led him to working at Los Alamos National Laboratory in the National Flow Cytometry resource developing next generation cell sorting and analysis technologies, as well as portable flow cytometry for third world applications. Dr. Applegate served in the University of New Mexico’s Center for Biomedical Engineering where he continued his research in large particle sorting in a clinical setting, with the focus of early cancer detection and circulating tumor cell isolation. Dr. Applegate left academia to venture into startup biomedical businesses where he has been instrumental in bringing products from idea to fruition, including design, testing and securing funding. In addition, Dr. Applegate has guest lectured on biomedical engineering and biochemistry courses, published 50 papers and conference proceedings, and serves as an ad hoc reviewer for a variety of journals.
