Scale Modeling Quarterly – Launching May 1st – a New Scale Modeling Magazine Concept from HobbyScale Press
Available on Google Play May 1st
Charlottesville, VA, March 28, 2014 --(PR.com)-- HobbyScale Press is pleased to announce the official launch of Scale Modeling Quarterly, first and foremost a publication for, and by, scale model builders. The goal of SMQ is to encourage, inspire, teach, and share with modelers through feature articles on unique and interesting subjects spanning the full spectrum of the scale modeling hobby.
SMQ’s cornerstone in reaching these goals is a dedication to step-by-step, photo-intensive builds authored by competitive model builders. These experienced modelers will demonstrate techniques in detail, giving the reader new methods to add to their own model building skillset. These builds will be presented in our regular Featured Build and Short Build sections.
Additionally, the Modeling Tech and New Product Reviews sections will offer detailed tips, tricks, and advice on the myriad of hobby products available. Modelers will be connected to the scale modeling community at large through their ongoing Trip Reports section that will deliver dispatches from shows, events, and places of interest. Unique to SMQ will be a regular Kid’s Corner section that documents the challenges and triumphs of the newest generation of modelers in their own words.
Premier Issue Content
Scale Modeling Quarterly’s Featured Build section will launch with an in-depth build of Eduard’s 1:48 scale Fokker Dr.1 Triplane by IPMS/USA Regional award-winning modeler Joe Marranca. The premier issue will also feature a build of Eduard's 1:48 scale Spitfire Mk. IXc ProfiPACK by IPMS/USA National award-winning modeler Kevin Ferris, and a detailed refit of a 1:700 scale USS Alabama.
Format and Availability
SMQ will initially be published and electronically delivered as an e-book through Google Play and other digital media outlets on May 1st, 2014. A print release, on glossy paper that will optimize the look of the photos, will be available July 1st on newsstands, or can be ordered directly from hobbyscalepress.com. The second issue of the quarterly publication will be available digitally and in print on October 1st.
