House Delays Vote on Postponing ICD-10, Strategic Chiropractor Urges Doctors of Chiropractic to Get Ready
The House rejected a bill on March 27, 2014 that would have postponed ICD-10 for another year until October 2015. Chiropractic billing expert, Dr. Tom Necela of The Strategic Chiropractor urges doctors of chiropractic not to delay their staff training but to prepare for the October 2014 ICD-10 implementation now.
Seattle, WA, March 27, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The House rejected a bill on March 27, 2014 that would have postponed ICD-10 for another year until October 2015.
The issue may not be totally settled though. Despite the fact that the House cast their requisite two-thirds majority vote to shoot down the ICD-10 delay, there was not a sufficient quorum present to make the rejection of the bill official.
Instead, the House members agreed to delay the vote on postponing the ICD-10 implementation date and, inside the same bill, creating another patch on the SGR.
As it stands, the ICD-10 implementation date remains October 1, 2014.
Chiropractic billing expert, Tom Necela, DC, CPC, CPMA, CCP-P of The Strategic Chiropractor is urging chiropractors to act and begin ICD-10 training immediately.
Necela states: "Everyone is still going to have to learn ICD-10 unless you are a practitioner who has a practice that is 100% bit coins, wampum or other cash-only service and does not provide any reimbursement opportunity for your patients via their insurance, HSA, FSA, PIP, MedPay, etc."
In his opinion, since there are few practices who would be unaffected by the ICD-10 coding change, Necela recommends that they go on with the training and not wait until the last minute hoping for a delay in the ICD-10 implementation date.
For doctors of chiropractic and their staff who need training, Dr. Necela's company, The Strategic Chiropractor, offers two options to learn the new codeset via their Online ICD-10 Implementation for Chiropractors and Their Staff and also through live seminars presented throughout the Northwest.
