Flagstaff Sports Doctor Appointed Physician for US Ski & Snowboarding Teams
Flagstaff, AZ, October 05, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Flagstaff’s Dr. Darius Moezzi, sports and injury doctor and orthopedic surgeon at Flagstaff Bone and Joint has been selected by the USSA (United States Ski and Snowboard Association) as a member of its small, elite group of team physicians. His responsibilities will include providing all medical care for the teams during their events.
Dr. Moezzi and a few other specialists will take turns covering the team’s numerous events throughout the 2007-2008 season. Some of those that Dr. Moezzi will cover include a US Snowboard event in Bad Gastein, Austria and a US Freestyle Ski event in Chile. When asked about this prestigious appointment, Dr. Moezzi stated: “I’m honored to have been asked to care for some of our nation’s finest athletes. I’m also honored to be included as a member of such a fine team of physicians.”
And just how does one care for so many individuals who are constantly pushing their bodies to the extreme? Moezzi says it’s going to keep him on his toes. “Professional athletes are always pushing the limits, so just about anything can happen. Most commonly it’s the joints, knees and shoulders. I’m a runner and a skier and I understand what it’s like to be injured. So my primary goal is always to return an athlete to his or her pre-injury state of health as soon as possible.”
Dr. Moezzi, a board certified Orthopedic Surgeon, joined Flagstaff Bone and Joint in 2004 and specializes in sports and injury care. He takes pride in offering to his patients the latest techniques and technological advances available. Prior to 2004, Dr. Moezzi was an assistant team physician to the San Diego Padres and San Diego State University. He completed his residency at Tufts University at New England Medical Center, Boston, Massachusetts and his undergraduate degree at University of Arizona.
