April is National Sexual Assault Awareness Month
Columbia, SC, March 31, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Sensei Chris Feldt, owner and chief instructor for Samurai Karate Studio, located in Richland Northeast Columbia, South Carolina, announced today his school would be participating in National Sexual Assault Awareness Month. His school will be sharing resources and tips throughout the month at his school as well as through social media.
"April is National Sexual Assault Awareness Month and provides an opportunity to highlight year-round efforts to aid those affected by sexual violence and work to prevent future sexual assaults," commented Sensei Feldt, "Through local and national events and campaigns, Sexual Assault Awareness Month highlights sexual violence as a preventable problem."
During the month of April, Sensei Feldt will be sharing facts and tips about sexual assault at his school as well as through a social media campaign.
"Sexual assault is a real and growing problem, not just in America, but throughout the world," stated Sensei Feldt, "Current research shows that 1 in 6 women and 1 in 33 men will be a victim of sexual assault at some point in their lives."
It is believed the statistics for sexual assault are significantly understated, because the victim is often embarrassed or fearful to step forward and report it. The purpose of the national campaign about sexual assault is to raise awareness and encourage people to get involved and help bring an end to the growth of sexual assaults.
"One of the missions of my school," commented Sensei Feldt, "is to help raise awareness in my community about sexual assault and violence in the hope that it might prevent one teenage girl or boy from being assaulted."
Samurai Karate Studio teaches a traditional style of karate for both children and adults, beginning at age 4 and up. The program includes comprehensive character and leadership training.
