Beau-coup.com Gives Back - Online Retailer Donating Percentage of Holiday Sales to Charity
Beau-coup.com, a popular wedding favor retailer, will donate a portion of all sales this holiday season to multiple organizations devoted to helping underprivileged families escape poverty.
Mountain View, CA, October 05, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Beaucoup Wedding Favors, Inc. (www.beau-coup.com), a leading retailer of wedding favors, bridal shower favors, baby shower favors and gifts for all special occasions announced today that it will donate five percent of sales from every order it receives this holiday season to Oprah’s Angel Network, Kiva.org and World Vision, among others. This will be the company’s largest charitable contribution to date.
President and founder, Polly Liu believes, “Having a business is a means to an end and that end is helping others by teaching them to stand on their own.” A long-time fan of Oprah’s daytime talk show, Liu is happy to support Oprah’s Angel Network, a charity that has built new communities, new homes and new schools in some of the world’s poorest places. “I believe in education, in giving them the tools and not just handing them money,” says Liu.
In keeping with her desire to provide impoverished families with basic means to achieve success, Liu has identified Kiva.org as a worthy cause. Kiva facilitates one-to-one loans from individuals or groups to small business owners all over the globe in need of start-up capital. “As an entrepreneur, I would love to help others get off the ground and give them hope of becoming independent” says Liu, “The gratification that comes from building a profitable business that allows them to take care of their families is immeasurable.” Liu started Beau-Coup.com in her living room five years ago and today it is a multi-million dollar company employing over 20 people and has become a leading provider of baby shower gifts, wedding favors and other lifestyle amenities.
A third charity to be funded by Beau-Coup.com this year is World Vision, an organization that not only provides basic needs such as food, clothing and immunization to those in need but is dedicated to working with underprivileged families, children and their communities to build a strong foundation through education. To combat hunger and mal-nourishment in Ethiopia, World Vision trained local farmers on agricultural techniques and offered courses on nutrition in additional to supplying seeds and tools to grow crops. World Vision’s goal is to help such communities establish a source of nutrition that they can maintain on their own.
Beau-coup.com’s staff, consisting largely of women, also has chosen to fund Support Network for Battered Women, a local group that helps its community thrive free of domestic violence. Pauline Hill, head of special projects, chose to fund the organization. “I have friends and family whom the network has helped… and have never forgotten what a valuable service they provided,” Hills says, “they give people hope and strength and help them take control of their lives again.”
Other organizations that Beau-Coup.com has supported in the past include the Red Cross Katrina Fund, March of Dimes, Big Brothers Big Sisters and First 5, a local non-profit.
“We’re lucky to be in a position to give back to our global community,” says Liu, “It makes me happy to share our success and I hope to continue this tradition.”
