Cameron Village Live Rises from the Underground April 25
Free event featuring live music, fashion and food will fill Cameron Village when Daniels St is blocked from Clark Ave to Cameron St on Friday evening April 25.
Raleigh, NC, April 01, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The underground music scene is returning to Cameron Village—this time Above Ground on Daniels Street, making Cameron Village the place to see, hear and taste the next big thing.
Cameron Village Live is a free event on April 25 from 6 -10 pm. CV Live is a nod to the Village’s fabled history in the emergence of rock music while celebrating today’s newest music and fashion. CV Live kicks off at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 25 with a DJ on stage near Carolina Café. Daniels St. will be blocked off between Clark Ave. and Cameron St. Forty-five minutes of fast paced fashion, models and music will follow, featuring spring/summer trends–all available at CV boutiques! Many Village merchants will be open until 8 p.m. that evening, offering special promotions for the event. Beer and wine sales benefit BandTogether.
The Cameron Village Subway was the hotbed for emerging music in the 70’s. It attracted up-and-comers such as Pat Benatar, Doc Watson, REM, the Ramones and even the Divine Miss M, Bette Midler. The Subway was the place. The Underground was the movement that propelled young talent to a bigger stage.
The Love Language, a part of the local indie rock movement, is poised to jump onto the national scene--but not before they play Cameron Village. The band is signed with Durham-based Merge Records and they have played to full houses around the country including Austin, Denver and Nashville.
