Ergonomically Designed Magline Hand Trucks Reduce Injury According to Humantech Survey
Ergonomically Designed Magline Hand Trucks Reduce Injury According to Humantech Survey.
Standish, MI, April 08, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The results of a Humantech, Inc. survey conducted for Magline have been released. The study was initiated to explore the relationship between Magline hand trucks and the potential injury prevention with cost savings in the supply chain.
There are 3 key ergonomic risk factors that, if present, increase a worker’s risk of an ergonomics injury. The factors include the force of loading the body’s joints and muscles excessively, moving the body’s joints away from a neutral, comfortable position, and the frequency of holding an awkward posture or excessive force statically for too long, or repetitively.
Implementing the Magline hand trucks, such as the CooLift can potentially reduce the force a driver handles on a typical route by up to 25,000 pounds, thereby substantially reducing injury risk. The cumulative force is supported by the drivers’ hands, wrists, elbows, shoulders, and back joints.
Injury risk to these joints is reduced by using the Magline hand trucks. Potential direct medical costs associated with one injury to joints can be reduced by implementing ergonomically designed Magline products, such as the CooLift.
Additionally, exposure to the high postural ergonomic risks associated with the following tasks can be reduced by between 50% - 66%. Additionally, physical burden placed on delivery drivers is 16% less when using the CooLift. The cost saving of avoiding one injury could be greater than $100,000.
