Baron James Ashanti’s literary career began in 1965 with readings at the County Cullen Branch of the Library in Harlem, and he began to publish nationally in 1966. His work has since appeared in Europe, Afrika, and Asia. He is listed in Who’s Who in The World; Who’s Who in America; Who’s Who in American Education; Who’s Who in America-Editors; Writers and Poets; Who’s Who in North American Poetry; The International Who’s Who in Poetry; The International Writer and Author’s Who’s Who and The Poets and Writer’s Directory. During the Black Arts Movement (1965-1974) he developed into a Writer/Activist, preferring not to pontificate on the side-lines but to steer on a course of 13 straight years political action.

Erika Dagnino, Italian poet, writer, performer, has contributed to literary and music magazines. She has published prose and poetry books, and produced CDs in Italy, England, and California. She has a strong relationship with the free jazz musical world, especially in New York. www.erikadagnino.it.

Cindy Hochman is the founder of Harrison/Hochman "100 Proof" (copyediting services) and the editor-in-chief of the online journal First Literary Review-East. Her recent and upcoming poetry publications include: the New York Quarterly, Lips, MonkeyBicycle, CLWN WR, Arsenic Lobster, and Pirene's Fountain. She is on the book review staff of Pedestal Magazine and also writes reviews for Home Planet News, great weather for MEDIA, and New Mirage Journal. She is grateful to Patricia for giving her the opportunity to read for you today and most honored to be featuring with her "Italian sister," Erika Dagnino.
