Enterprising Women Welcomes Three New Members to Advisory Board
Kristine Jones, Mary Kariotis and Susan McGlory Michel to Serve as Board Members
Raleigh, NC, April 16, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Monica Smiley, publisher and CEO of Enterprising Women magazine, has appointed Kristine Jones, Mary Kariotis and Susan McGlory Michel to the Enterprising WomenAdvisory Board.The Enterprising Women Advisory Board is comprised of a select group of women and men who show their support for the publication and give back to the women business owners’ community — helping provide leadership, motivation and inspiration to thousands of women entrepreneurs across the United States and Canada and around the world.
Jones is the owner and founder of New England Flagger Services, LLC, which she started in 2008 and has grown it from seven employees to 70 over the past five years. Her WBE, CT-DBE certified company provides traffic control for major utilities and private contractors throughout Connecticut. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Eastern Connecticut State University in Willimantic, Conn. In her free time, Jones is a Flagger Instructor, OSHA outreach trainer and volunteers as a site visitor for Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC). She is also a member of the Springfield, Mass.,chapter of the Women Presidents’ Organization.
Kariotis is President and CEO of Merrimak Capital Company, an independent global provider of asset recovery and leasing services for the largest U.S. corporations, higher education and medical institutions. Kariotis joined Merrimak in 1995 and launched its equipment leasing division the following year. In 2008, Merrimak was restructured as a woman-owned company and certified by WBENC making Merrimak the industry’s largest full-service independent lessor and asset recovery company providing Tier One Diversity Spend Credit. Since Kariotis assumed the position as CEO, the company has added over 35 enterprise accounts over the past four years while being awarded a myriad of multimillion dollar projects with Kariotis setting the company’s five year goal to exceed a billion dollars in annual originations. The opportunities and advantages that being a diverse supplier has brought to Merrimak is the impetus for the campaign Kariotis is spear heading in hiring paid college interns from Dartmouth to develop social media outlets and educate students across the country of the true “gift” with becoming a diverse supplier.
Michel is the founder and CEO of Glen Eagle Advisors, LLC, a full-service registered investment advisor and broker dealer firm. The firm helps clients manage more than $350 million in assets and is a certified Woman Business Enterprise (WBE). Michel founded Glen Eagle Advisors in 2003 and the company has registered representatives in six states.
Michel recently completed 10 years of service on the Saint Paul’s Catholic School of Princeton board. She is an active member of the Women Presidents’ Organization, Entrepreneurs’ Organization, Princeton Regional Chamber of Commerce, New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners, Friendly Sons and Daughters of Saint Patrick of Mercer County and is a trustee of the Barnegat Light Taxpayers’ Association. She also serves on the Iron Mike Foundation Board, which is focused on providing a sustainable future and scholarship opportunities for underprivileged students at Trenton Catholic Academy in Trenton, N.J. and is a trustee of the Hun School of Princeton board of trustees.
All three new Advisory Board members are recipients of the 2014 Enterprising Women of the Year Award by Enterprising Women magazine, which recognizes the finest women entrepreneurs in North America and beyond.
