EmpowHer Institute Announces PathMaker Award Recipients at Girls to Greatness Luncheon
Girls to Greatness Luncheon, April 26, 2014, Beverly Hills Hotel on Saturday at 12:00 PM.
Los Angeles, CA, April 16, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The 2014 recipients of the EmpowHer PathMaker Award; Musette Buckley, Senior Vice President Warner Bros. Pictures; The Honorable LaDoris (Dot) Harris, Director of the Office of Economic Impact and Diversity at the United States Department of Energy; Renata Simril, Senior Vice President, External Affairs at The Los Angeles Dodgers; and Denita Willoughby, Regional Vice President of External Affairs at Southern California Gas Company, are all leaders in government and the business community.
EmpowHer Institute invites the community to join in the 2014 Girls to Greatness Luncheon, the theme is “Dream Big, Reach Higher” in keeping with the mission to mentor inner-city teen girls to believe in themselves and their success. According to Alliance for Excellent Education, 1 out of 2 minority girls in urban cities will not graduate from high school. Hard to believe, but true… and a statistic that has serious consequences for the workforce and the community. At EmpowHer Institute, the focus is to change these hard facts by changing lives and build positive futures. And it all begins with every parent’s wish for their child: Stay in school, do well, graduate, go to college, and chase your dreams.
EmpowHer programs begin as early as 11 years old. That’s when interventions have the greatest impact. Over the last 4 years, the programs have been in classrooms offering training and mentoring for nearly 1200 girls in transformational life skills, leadership skills, career options, and financial literacy.
