UK Creative Agency in Battle with Astronauts and Vikings

It’s not something that happens everyday, but a website produced by Ethos, a creative agency has been shortlisted alongside space explorers NASA, The National website of Sweden, New York City Government and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, for arguably the most prestigious award within the digital industry.

Cardiff, United Kingdom, April 18, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The Adopt Wales website was designed and built by Ethos and supported with online activity from digital marketing specialists Liberty Marketing. It is one of just five from around the globe and the only one from the UK to be shortlisted in the Best Government Website category of the 18th Annual Webby Awards.

Hailed as the "Internet's highest honour" by The New York Times, The Webby Awards, presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS), is the leading international award honouring excellence on the Internet. The IADAS, which nominates and selects The Webby Award Winners, is comprised of web industry experts, including media mogul Arianna Huffington, Skype CEO Tony Bates, Instagram co-founder Kevin Systrom and creator of the GIF Steve Wilhite.

The Adopt Wales website aims to increase awareness of the need for adopters in Wales and dispel the negative connotations around adoption. It features a series of short films telling the emotional stories of real adoption experiences, including that of Olympic medallist Jamie Baulch. The website can be viewed at www.adopt-wales.co.uk and since launch, the number of unique visitors to the site has grown by 384% and it has achieved number one ranking on Google.

Ross Hutchins, managing director of Ethos is delighted to be shortlisted for the Webby Award. He said, “The fact that we have made it to the final 5 is an incredible achievement. Going head to head with the likes of NASA and New York City isn’t something that happens every day and, win or lose, we are very proud to have been shortlisted.

As a nominee, we are also eligible to win a Webby People's Voice Award, which is voted for online across the globe. From now until April 24th, people can cast their votes at pv.webbyawards.com.”

"Nominees like Ethos are setting the standard for innovation and creativity on the Internet," said David-Michel Davies, Executive Director of The Webby Awards. "It is an incredible achievement to be selected among the best from the 12,000 entries we received this year."

Winners will be announced on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 and honoured at a star-studded ceremony on Tuesday, May 19, 2014 at Cipriani on Wall Street in New York City.
