New York, NY, April 23, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Lilly Burgos, Brooklyn artist, also know as Miss Lilly Bee has announced a public viewing of her new body of art work, "Mandorla" at the BWAC Outer Limits Spring Art Show on the Red Hook Pier, at 499 Van Brunt Street, Brooklyn, NY 11231, from April 26-June 1st. The opening reception is on Saturday, April 26th at 1:00-5:30 PM.
“Mandorla” is a Mixed Media and Photography exhibit that explores the different facets of power cycles, strength and control in the lives and experiences of women today. The artist is looking to create a greater consciousness of the gender roles and the subconscious dialogues and scripts that have been fed to women by society, culture, and religion. Through out time, women have found ways to share their struggles with the gender roles imposed on them, including vision of self, present and future in order to connect and communicate with their community in a way that words can not. Lilly’s artistic expression in “Mandorla” is an example of this type of self knowledge and consciousness. She believes that through self knowledge we will become empowered and effective women that can meet the challenges of living in the modern world.
