Really Epic Ventures Awards Utah Entrepreneur Challenge "Innovator Sponsorship" Prize Package to Alterniity
Startup Company Seeking to Deliver Non-Pharmacuetical Alzheimer’s Treatment Wins $150,000 Worth of In-Kind Sponsorship Funds from Really Epic Ventures
Salt Lake City, UT, April 23, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Really Epic Ventures, a partner of Red Touch Media, the Salt Lake City-based technology company behind the fastest-growing digital media content management platform in the entertainment industry, is proud to announce that the firm has awarded startup company Alterniity GmbH with its “Innovator Sponsorship” package as part of the Utah Entrepreneur Challenge (UEC). Led by Dr. Ioannis Tarnanas in cooperation with Basil Vetas and Veronika Petrova, Alterniity seeks to deliver a non-pharmaceutical treatment option to patients suffering from Alzheimer’s and dementia.
The “Innovator Sponsorship” prize package from Really Epic Ventures will include $150,000 worth of sponsorship funds, including office space at Red Touch Media’s Salt Lake City office for up to six months, business mentorship by Finance and Legal professionals and marketing consultation services with Red Touch Media’s award-winning marketing team to help Alterniity grow their business.
In the United States today, more than five million people suffer from Alzheimer’s and dementia, and the disease is the sixth-leading cause of death in the nation. Based on 12 years of research showing that activities such as board games and dancing can actually delay the onset or slow the progression of Alzheimer’s, Alterniity’s solution combines these activities in one place through a virtual gaming solution that incorporates both physical and cognitive training into one full-immersive virtual experience. Patients can directly pay a subscription fee to play the game and receive cognitive feedback on their performance. In addition, the game can also be installed in hospitals, nursing homes and clinics.
Operated by the Lasonde Entrepreneur Institute at the University of Utah, the UEC focuses on the creation of comprehensive business plans for startup companies. Judged by professionals within the Utah business community, including Chairman and CEO of Red Touch Media, Wayne Scholes, the UEC represents the largest student business plan competition in the United States, typically attracting more than 240 team submissions and more than 2,000 competitors. The UEC also offers incomparable mentorship for budding entrepreneurs and an excellent proving ground for business concepts.
The contest has proven successful to many entrepreneurs, including Really Epic Ventures Director, Trevor Suelzle. In 2002 Suelzle’s team was UEC’s first place winner.
“After meeting with Basil, we knew that he and Alterniity would be the perfect fit to receive the Really Epic Ventures prize package, and we look forward to helping them grow over the coming months,” said Scholes. “We are honored that our participation in the Utah Entrepreneur Challenge has given us the opportunity to contribute to the success of a business with the potential to have such a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of people around the world.”
