2014 Alzheimer's Association Regional Education Conference
Miami, FL, April 24, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The Alzheimer’s Association will host its 2014 Care & Conquer Regional Education Conference on Thursday, May 15 from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Florida International University Koven Conference Center located at 3000 NE 151st St. in North Miami. The annual conference provides a full day of information, education and support from renowned dementia experts for caregivers, individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and professionals.
Featured conference speakers include:
Heather M. Snyder, Ph. D. (Keynote Speaker)
Dr. Snyder is the Director of Medical and Scientific Operations at the Alzheimer’s Association. She oversees the Association’s International Research Grant Program, the mechanism through which the Association funds research applications. She also manages a collaborative project with the National Institute on Aging of the National Institutes of Health to develop an International Alzheimer’s Disease Research Portfolio – using a common language to describe funded research to enable the integration and comparative analysis of Alzheimer’s research funding from public and private organizations from around the world.
Dr. Regina Carney
Dr. Carney is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at the University Of Miami Miller School Of Medicine, with a research interest in neuropsychiatric illness including Alzheimer’s disease. She is a member of the ongoing Alzheimer Disease Genetics Consortium (ADGC) and the more recent Alzheimer Disease Sequencing Project (ADSP), overseeing and providing clinical expertise for research projects at the University of Miami’s Hussman Institute for Human Genomics.
Dr. Amarilis Acevedo
Dr. Acevedo is an Associate Professor at the Center for Psychological Studies at Nova Southeastern University where she teaches a variety of doctoral courses in clinical neuropathology and neuropsychology, biopsychosocial processes in adults and older adults, and psychological interventions. She is a licensed psychologist in the State of Florida and is board certified in clinical neuropsychology.
In addition, attendees will be able to hear from the Legal & Financial Planning Resources Panel, including Stephanie Schneider, Elder Law Attorney; David Treece and a Certified Financial Planner.
