Bike for a Cause on Saturday, May 3rd
Wheel Fun Rentals in Balboa Park to Host Fundraiser Benefitting Friends of Balboa Park's Educational Program
San Diego, CA, April 24, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Join Wheel Fun Rentals and Friends of Balboa Park on Saturday May 3rd for "Bike for A Cause," a fundraising event benefiting Friends of Balboa Park's Educational Program. Explore historic Balboa Park on a unique bike or Surrey from Wheel Fun Rentals and make a difference in the lives of children at the same time. Your rental will help fund an educational program that brings buses of San Diego Unified 5th graders to the park to experience Balboa's rich history and natural beauty. So come rent a bike to give back.
Wheel Fun Rentals has been an advocate of children's programs since opening their doors in 1987. "We are invested in our youth," states WFR President, Al Stonehouse. "We offer free bike rentals to Big Brother Big Sister volunteers and we donate hundreds of gift certificates to local schools and charity organizations, but for this program, we felt compelled to do more. Keeping children's programs alive in our parks is important to us." Friends of Balboa Park will use the funds generated from this event to bring more than 8,700 San Diego Unified 5th grade students, and their teachers, to Balboa Park for class field trips. "The learning experience the students will receive at the park will be in-line with the core curriculum of the District, but it's hands-on learning they just can't get in a classroom," says Lorraine Schmalenberger, Administrative Director for Friends of Balboa Park. "We are thankful for kind donors like Wheel Fun Rentals who have stepped in to help fund this important program." For more information about this educational project, visit www.friendsofbalboapark.org.
So be sure not to miss "Bike for a Cause" on Saturday May 3rd from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at 1660 Globe Way in Balboa Park (kitty-corner to the Spanish Village Art Center). Rekindle childhood memories on a bike with your friends and family, while simultaneously giving back to the community. As you cruise through the park on your custom cycle, you'll see Balboa Park's signature Spanish architecture, the world's largest outdoor pipe organ, and many other memorable landmarks. Balboa Park is larger than New York's Central Park and is home to a wealth of museums, performing arts venues, beautiful gardens, and the San Diego Zoo. What better way to see it all than on a bike - while also helping to fund a great cause.
