Southern Beer Tours Provides an Exclusive View of Decatur Breweries

On tap for this exciting and informational tour are three local craft breweries: Wild Heaven Craft Beers, Blue Tarp Brewing Company, and Three Taverns Craft Brewery. The Southern Beer Tours visit on 5/3 will be a craft beer lover’s first chance to see the new production brewery currently being completed by Wild Heaven; the public has not been allowed to personally visit Wild Heaven until now and may not see it again until the project is finally completed sometime this summer. Wild Heaven has been active in Georgia since 2010, with the launch of their dual-flagship brews: Invocation, a Belgian-style golden ale and Ode to Mercy, an imperial brown ale. Wild Heaven has released a total of five beers thus far in its young existence, with four of those brews being available year-round. All brews except for the seasonal Ode to Mercy Special Winter Ale will be available to sample while on the Southern Beer Tours visit.

Blue Tarp Brewing Company is Decatur’s first full-scale production brewery, launched in December 2012. Blue Tarp has also released five beers, including Last Place Stout, Hopsided IPA, and Funk Weisse. At the time of this release, Blue Tarp was providing four beers on tap on the tour, with Mother Hoppin’ DIPA being the only brew currently missing from their impressive lineup.

The third stop on the 5/3/14 Southern Beer Tours outing will be to Three Taverns Craft Brewery. Three Taverns takes the ages-old Belgian tradition of brewing and incorporates its own American creativity and way of thinking to create some truly great brews. Five beers have been produced from the brewers at Three Taverns, including the wildly popular Single Intent, a Belgian-style single, and A Night in Brussels IPA, a Belgian-style American IPA.
