Sheri Mossbeck Attended 6th Annual DirectWomen Board Institute in New York
Organization Formed to Position Women Lawyers to Serve on Boards of Public Companies Selects Vice President and Treasurer of Leggett & Platt, Inc. to Attend Institute
Carthage, MO, April 30, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Sheri Mossbeck, Vice President and Treasurer of Leggett & Platt, Inc., attended the DirectWomen Board Institute from January 22-24 in New York City. DirectWomen, an organization formed to position women lawyers to serve on boards of public companies, selects a group of qualified women lawyers from a competitive pool of applicants across the country to participate in the three-day program.
At the DirectWomen Board Institute Mossbeck attended informational sessions on key issues facing current and future corporate directors and had the opportunity to interact with Institute alumnae and past honorees. The Institute was co-chaired by Professor Hillary A. Sale, Walter D. Coles Professor of Law and Professor of Management at Washington University in St. Louis and Professor Lisa M. Fairfax, Leroy Sorenson Merrifield Research Professor of Law at the George Washington University Law School. Institute faculty featured leading experts on corporate governance as well as experienced directors and officers of large public companies. Speakers covered topics such as the role and work of nominating board members, the evolving nature of shareholder relations, the strategic role of audit committees and the role of executive search firms in board searches.
Mossbeck has 25 years of global business experience in corporate law and finance, serving as Vice President and Treasurer of Leggett & Platt, Incorporated since 1997. In her role as Treasurer, Mossbeck has led Leggett’s global treasury and finance functions to best-in-class status. As a corporate officer and member of the management team she plays key roles in risk management and a wide variety of acquisitions, divestitures and strategic operational and structural projects. Prior to becoming Treasurer she was Associate General Counsel of Leggett, acting primarily as M&A, financing and real estate counsel to the company. Mossbeck joined Leggett after practicing law in Kansas City with Husch Blackwell, LLP (then Blackwell Sanders Matheny Weary and Lombardi) in their Corporate and Real Estate Practice Groups. During her legal career she has developed broad expertise representing public and private companies in complex corporate transactions, including bank combinations, leveraged buy outs, restructurings and cross-border M&A. Mossbeck earned her B.A. from Illinois State University and her J.D. with Order of the Coif Honors from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law.
