Soundview to Host Interactive Webinar with Mark Pastin
Soundview Executive Book Summaries will host an interactive webinar on May 6th with business author Mark Pastin, to discuss the concepts in his latest book, "Make An Ethical Difference."
Philadelphia, PA, May 01, 2014 --(PR.com)-- In this Soundview Live webinar, How to Make an Ethical Difference, Mark Pastin argues that we all have an innate ethical sense—what he calls an “ethics eye.” He offers tools for sharpening the ethics eye so we can see and do the right thing ourselves, particularly in the workplace, where our decisions can affect not just ourselves but coworkers, clients, customers, and even an entire organization.
With examples drawn from his decades of experience advising governments, corporations, and NGOs, Pastin shows how to identify competing interests, analyze the facts, understand the viewpoints, measure the benefits of different outcomes, and build consensus. You’ll gain confidence in your ethical sense, make better leadership decisions, and take actions that elevate the ethics of the groups and organizations you belong to—and society as a whole. Mark Pastin walked away from a full, tenured professorship to prove that it is possible to create lasting ethical change in organizations. Since 1993, Mark has served as Chief Executive Officer of the Council of Ethical Organizations, a non-profit organization dedicated to promote ethics in business, government and the professions.
Throughout these careers, Mark has pursued practical approaches to ethical issues. When working toward his Ph.D. at Harvard University, Mark studied under two of the leading ethicists of the past hundred years, Roderick Firth and John Rawls. His studies focused on the unique human attributes that allow individuals to gain insight into ethical issues.
Mark realized that you could not claim ethical insight if this insight did not translate into ethical action. Simply put, the only relevant laboratory for ethical knowledge is the world in which we live and work. It is this insight that drove Mark to build a global consultancy in the area of organizational ethics.
Attendees will learn:
• That we all have an innate ethical sense.
• The five tools for sharpening our ethics sense.
• How to bring others to an ethical consensus.
• How to make better leadership decisions.
