Polish Application for Tablets Revolutionizes Children's Therapy
For several years now, scientists have been pointing out that tablets – one of the hottest gadgets of the twenty-first century – can be a great tool for working with children with behavioural or developmental disorders. A Cracow’s company, DrOmnibus has now confirmed these assumptions, as it has just released an application that will completely revolutionize kids' therapy.
Cracow, Poland, April 29, 2014 --(PR.com)-- DrOmnibus is a globally unique tool that includes three complementary components: games, a child progress tracking system and a therapist's organizer.
The first component consists of specially designed therapeutic games (at the time of the release there are five of them available, but the game base will be constantly and rapidly developing – new games are already in preparation). Each of them has been fully developed and tested by experienced professionals – occupational therapists, educators and speech therapists who work with children every day.
“There are many great games for tablets designed for kids on the market today, but almost none of them meet the expectations of parents and therapists of children with difficulties. We want to provide a solution which takes into account the needs of even the most demanding children,” says Bogumiła Matuszewska from DrOmnibus. “Each of our games focuses on practicing one of the dozens of skills that should be developed in the child. We divided them into three main groups: math skills, social skills and language skills,” she adds.
Thanks to the built-in system tracking the child’s progress, both parents and therapists are able to see how he or she develops, and adjust the level of difficulty in each game to the individual needs of their ward. The DrOmnibus tool provides knowledge on the group of skills which is particularly problematic for the child and on where the therapy should place particular emphasis.
The tablet revolution by DrOmnibus involves not only kids – it is the first solution on the market which has also been created for therapists. In addition to the free Lite version and the Home version designed for parents, the PRO version designed for professionals has also been developed. The advantage o this version is the possibility to create accounts for many wards within the application, while maintaining the ability to completely personalize each game for each child. An important element is also a built-in therapist’s organizer which enables easy work planning and offers the possibility of communication between therapists.
“Introducing DrOmnibus to the market is the result of hard work and the realization of the vision that began to guide us two years ago. We are very happy, but we do not intend to rest on our laurels but keep improving,” adds Matuszewska. “Our tool is already being implemented in several therapeutic centres and the reactions of both the professionals and the children are extremely positive. We are still developing new games that will soon be added to DrOmnibus, and we have in minds other functions of the tool which will be a natural path of development for us.”
Dromnibus tool is right now available on Android, iOS/iPad premiere is scheduled for June. The project’s partner and co-creator of the DrOmnibus solution is the Cracow’s Hipoterapia - Na Rzecz Rehabilitacji Dzieci Niepełnosprawnych Foundation (“Hippotherapy Foundation - for the Rehabilitation of Disabled Children”), which has now been providing children with multi-faceted therapy for 25 years.
