New Device from UVO3, Inc. Kills Antimicrobial Superbugs

Annapolis, MD, May 01, 2014 --(PR.com)-- UVO3, Inc. has just introduced their new machine that kills antimicrobial resistant superbugs. According to the Center for Disease Control, 1 out of every 25 patients that are admitted to a hospital acquire a Healthcare Associated Infection (HAI); of those 1 out of 9 patients die. Two significant causes of HAIs include staph infections contracted from surfaces that are thought to be clean and airborne diseases that attach themselves to floating dust particles. Ozone is a molecule that consists of three oxygen atoms bonded together; it is a highly unstable configuration thus making ozone a very powerful oxidant. When it comes in contact with bacteria it breaks through the cell wall in seconds in a reaction known as an “oxidative burst.” Ozone is so unstable that it cannot be transported; it must be generated at the site of application because it naturally tends to break down into diatomic oxygen.
The Infection Fighter® uses a patented ozone control process to dose selected microorganisms with results verifiable to International Calibrated Standards (NIST). Christopher Garner, P.E. explains: “because the machine is constantly measuring the ozone concentration in the room, it is able to accurately dose any environment that it is introduced to. Ozone is both generated and mitigated from the Infection Fighter®.”
