NAFA Announces Formation of Government Affairs Committee at 2014 Institute & Expo
NAFA's Government Affairs Committee will prioritize the issues facing NAFA members, drafting position statements and developing strategies to ensure that fleet's voice is heard and that it has meaningful, positive impact.
Princeton, NJ, May 03, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The fleet profession requires a strong, decisive voice at the table when it comes to the relationship between fleet and legislation. NAFA has always been that voice for its membership and beyond, but at the Annual Business Meeting at NAFA’s Institute & Expo in April, the Association announced steps to take it even farther. Convening at the Minneapolis Convention Center in Minneapolis, MN, NAFA President Claude T. Masters, CAFM, announced the formation of NAFA's Government Affairs Committee, a unit that will become the preeminent voice for fleet to the halls of legislative influence.
"(The Committee) will prioritize the issues facing NAFA members, drafting position statements and developing strategies to ensure that our fleet voice is heard and that it has meaningful, positive impact," President Masters said.
"NAFA recognizes the responsibility the Association has for being the fleet representative to lawmakers," said NAFA Chief Executive Officer Phillip E. Russo, CAE. "We have been instrumental in stating with, clarity and presence, what fleet's position is in terms of legislation. With this announcement, we are truly staking our claim."
The Government Affairs Committee consists of distinguished NAFA members:
· Richard Battersby, CAFM, University of California at Davis
· Kevin Fisher, CAFM, ARAMARK Services Inc.
· Jeff Jeter, Chesterfield County
· Paul Lauria, Mercury Associates, Inc.
· Keith Leech, City of Sacramento
· David Lighthall, CAFM, Kraft Foods Group, Inc.
· James Maedel, CAFM, JEA
· William McCarty, City of Springfield
· Maria Neve, Merchants Fleet Management
· David Thompsen, CAFM, Matanuska Telephone Association
"NAFA, as the leading association of fleet professionals, needs to continue to increase our interaction with the Department of Energy, with the EPA, with Clean Cities, and with all the federal agencies that impact fleets," President Masters said. "We want to improve the world we live in, and breathe in. We want to leave it a better place. We want to be a part of the solution."
