New Elevated Temperature Tensile Testing Video from Laboratory Testing Inc.
LTI has posted a new video on YouTube demonstrating an Elevated Temperature Tensile Test. Elevated Temperature Tensile Testing is performed to evaluate the strength of materials under high heat and stress situations.
Hatfield, PA, May 03, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Laboratory Testing Inc. (LTI) has released a new video detailing its Elevated Temperature Tensile Testing process. The video, which is posted on YouTube, entitled “Elevated Temperature Tensile Testing (High Temperature Test)” and accessible with the URL http://youtu.be/dnJN1zfRQt8, shows LTI employees performing the necessary tasks to complete an elevated temperature tensile test.
An elevated temperature tensile test is carried out to assess the strength of material intended for high temperature applications. During the test, a specimen machined from the material is evaluated under controlled heat and tension or load conditions. Laboratory Testing Inc. places the test specimen inside a furnace, which then heats the specimen to the desired temperature. The next step is loading the specimen into the test frame, where an extensometer measures strain levels as the load is increased.
Laboratory Testing Inc. uses state-of-the-art equipment to perform this tensile test, including a Tinius Olsen tensile machine, a furnace carousel that can heat up to three samples simultaneously to temperatures as high as 1800 degrees Fahrenheit and a new extensometer that boasts improved turnaround time, repeatability and curve accuracy, as well as capabilities to handle a broad range of sample types and sizes.
LTI is A2LA and Nadcap accredited and performs elevated temperature tensile testing to ASTM E21. The Machine Shop at LTI prepares all specimens required for testing.
LTI offers a wide range of mechanical testing services including hardness, fatigue, fracture toughness, stress rupture, charpy impact, tensile and more to a vast range of industries. The full-service materials testing and metrology laboratory also has many videos on some of these and other LTI services available for viewing on LTI’s YouTube Channel.
