Chinese Membrane Market to Grow Due to Increasing Government Investments Towards Water Reclamation, Says TechSci Research
During 12th FYP, about 70% of equipment being used in desalination plants to be manufactured domestically.
Burnaby, Canada, May 04, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The Chinese membranes market is one of the major membrane markets across the globe. Uneven water distribution coupled with water scarcity in highly industrialized areas is driving the membranes market in China. The country’s market is largely dominated by the leading international membrane manufacturers. Some of these manufacturers are producing membranes in China, however, few manufacturers, for instance, Koch, are selling membranes in the country through their distributors. The international manufacturers are supplying both low pressure as well as high pressure membranes in the Chinese market, however, the domestic players are majorly focussed towards addressing the demand for low pressure membranes.
According to a recently published report, “China Membranes Market Forecast & Opportunities, 2019”, the Chinese membranes market revenues are projected to grow at a CAGR of around 18% during 2014-19. The rising utilization of low pressure (UF and MF) membranes is one of the key drivers for the growth of China membranes market.
The report highlights that the planned investments in water reclamation and desalination sector during 12th FYP have made various leading global players to increase their focus on China’s membrane market. In 2013, NanoH2O, one of the largest global suppliers of reverse osmosis membranes, announced intentions to build a reverse osmosis membrane manufacturing facility in Liyang, China. The plant is expected to be operational by the end of 2014. Similarly, in 2012, global water major Dow also voiced plans to increase its production base in China by establishing a reverse osmosis membrane manufacturing facility in the country. The company already operates an ultrafiltration membrane manufacturing plant in Huzhou, and the new plant is also expected to come up in the same city.
“The government of China is investing heavily on the water reclamation projects, which is anticipated to augment the demand for membranes in the Chinese desalination market. The government investments towards water reclamation have been significantly increased in the 12th FYP compared to the 11th FYP, which would drive the demand for membranes in China over the next five years,” said Mr Karan Chechi, Research Director with TechSci Research, a research based global management consulting firm.
