Two Junior League of Raleigh Members Take Top 2014 Sustainer Awards
Julia Daniels and Andrea Fox Recognized for Community Service and Fundraising Efforts
Raleigh, NC, May 14, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The Junior League of Raleigh, a nonprofit organization focused on training women as community leaders and volunteers, is proud to announce that two of its members have received top 2014 Sustainer Awards for community service and fundraising efforts. Julia Daniels and Andrea Fox were presented with Sustainer Awards for their efforts with the Junior League’s Capital Campaign fund, which supports the Center of Community Leadership located at 711 Hillsborough Street.
Julia Daniels was awarded the Junior League’s Sustainer of the Year Award for her dedicated work within the League and other volunteer and community organizations. With the Junior League’s Capital Campaign in full swing this year, Julia stepped up to the plate several times in a variety of capacities - from speaking engagements and letter signing to event hosting, never losing sight of the League’s end-goal of finishing the Capital Campaign successfully and allowing the Junior League to fulfill its vision for the Center of Community Leadership.
Andrea Fox was awarded the Sustainer’s Legacy Award. Andrea has worked with a number of leagues including Greensboro, N.C., Chicago, Ill., St. Paul, Minn., and most recently transferred to the Junior League of Raleigh in 2005 and has been a driving force in the league ever since. She has served in several different capacities from board member to team captain. Her most recent project has been serving as team captain of the Capital Campaign. Under her leadership, the Junior League was able to make great strides with increasing the number of members participating in the Capital Campaign from 18 to 55 percent.
“The Sustainer luncheon at the Executive Mansion is a cherished spring tradition for the JLR, and it was fun to see many friends and familiar faces who came out to celebrate our two Sustainer award winners – Julia Daniels as Sustainer of the Year and Andrea Fox for the Sustainer Legacy Award,” said Whitney von Haam, Junior League of Raleigh president. “Both women showed such commitment and vigor this year as we closed out what had been a very long Capital Campaign. They were both very deserving of this honor.”
Caroline Russell, Sustainer Captain, stated, “We had a great response for this popular event at the Executive Mansion. As always, it was a sell out. The Sustainers enjoyed a wonderful lunch with friends as we honored our two award winners.”
Selené Brent, JLR President for 2014-15, stated, “This year's Sustainer award winners are so deserving of this recognition. Their service and dedication to the Junior League of Raleigh is immeasurable and provides the foundation that we rely on to help us continue to do the service that we do in the community. It is their leadership that serves as the model for other members to follow.”

About The Capital Campaign and Center of Community Leadership:
The Capital Campaign is the fundraising effort to support the Center of Community Leadership (CCL). Several years ago, a community assessment survey of area nonprofits showed a significant need for affordable meeting space. Through careful study and planning, the League answered that need by creating the Center for Community Leadership, a 32,800-square-foot space located at 711 Hillsborough St. near downtown Raleigh. It also is the site of JLR headquarters.
The CCL features 11 meeting rooms with cutting-edge technology, ranging from a boardroom, which has a small meeting room and refreshment bar, to a large conference room that will seat up to 180 people. The CCL offers a well-planned, fully outfitted space for the League and for other members of the community to meet, train and grow.
The League seeks to raise $3 million, money that will place our organization on more secure financial footing and allow us to expand our capacity to train community leaders through our Center for Community Leadership.
