USA Biology Olympiad Alumni Receive Academic Accolades

USA Biology Olympiad Student Receives National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Fellowship Award and Another Named an United States Presidential Scholar.

McLean, VA, May 16, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The Center for Excellence in Education (CEE) announces USA Biology Olympiad Alum 2008 and 2009, Seungsoo Kim, is a recipient of the 2014 National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship Awards. The Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) provides three years of financial support within a five-year fellowship period and Seungsoo will receive a $32,000 annual stipend and $12,000 cost-of-education allowance to his graduate institution, the University of Washington, for his studies in life-sciences-genomics.

NSF has provided fellowships to individuals selected early in their graduate careers since 1952 based on their demonstrated potential for significant achievements in sciences and engineering. NSF received over 14,000 applications for the 2014 competition, and made 2,000 fellowship award offers.

In tandem with this announcement, USABO Alum 2013, Eric H. Li, from the Albuquerque Academy in Albuquerque, New Mexico is among 141 high school seniors named a U.S. Presidential Scholar for his academic accomplishments. He will be honored for his accomplishment in Washington on June 22nd, and Eric will receive a Presidential Scholar Medallion.

The U.S. Presidential Scholars Program was created in 1964 and has honored more than 6,500 of the nation’s top-performing students.
