The Ohio State University Installing FieldTurf Yet Again for Ohio Stadium and Woody Hayes Practice Fields

Columbus, OH, May 17, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The Ohio State University Department of Athletics and FieldTurf jointly announced today that Ohio Stadium will receive a new "FieldTurf Revolution" surface. The installation of the FieldTurf surface at the stadium will begin in May. New FieldTurf fields will also be installed at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center – one indoor and one outdoor – for use by the Ohio State football team as well as numerous other sports.

FieldTurf will use its advanced recycling technology to remove the infill from the existing Stadium Field and the outdoor practice field so that it can be reused as part of the infill in the new fields. The old turf rolls on these fields will also be recycled into other products via FieldTurf’s recycling process.

Ohio State has played on FieldTurf at Ohio Stadium since it was installed there during the spring of 2007 and has amassed impressive records on the surface ever since. The Buckeyes have also been practicing on FieldTurf since 2004.

“Since we started on FieldTurf in 2007 at the stadium, our surface has consistently provided excellent footing for our players throughout the season,” said Ohio State University Associate Athletic Director Facilities Operations Don Patko.

“Ohio Stadium is one of the most recognizable landmarks in all of football. There are very few college athletic facilities in the nation that compare to the history, tradition and success of Ohio Stadium,” said FieldTurf President Eric Daliere. “For FieldTurf to be installed yet again on Buckeye grounds is an honor for our company and we are all very committed to continue to provide long-lasting high performance surfaces for the student-athletes.”

In addition to Ohio State, other Big Ten members who have selected FieldTurf for game and/or practice facilities include the University of Iowa, University of Illinois, Indiana University, University of Maryland University of Michigan, University of Minnesota, Northwestern University, Penn State University, Purdue University, University of Wisconsin, University of Nebraska, and Rutgers University.

Built in 1922, Ohio Stadium is a horseshoe-shaped stadium that needs little introduction. The stadium is a monument to college football and is the fourth largest on-campus facility in the nation. Since the opening game against Ohio Wesleyan on Oct. 7, 1922, more than 36 million fans have streamed through the stadium's portals.
