NewStart Solutions L3C Signs Two Subject Matter Experts for CrimeSuspect.NET Advisory Board

Colorado Springs, CO, May 18, 2014 --(PR.com)-- CrimeSuspect.NET is nearing the end of their 45 day pilot program with the Pueblo Police Department. During the last 45 days, CSN has published over 1100 CrimeCards for suspects and stolen property. They have also added five new Badger Block Watch groups, and eleven stolen vehicle Hot Sheets.

CSN's CEO Adam Leonard strongly believes in the philosophy of Community Policing as long as it is done correctly. "Community Policing is the practice of police officers forming trusting partnerships with citizens, and key community figures for instituting problem solving approaches to crime in their neighborhoods. More importantly, it is how each officer interacts with the public on every call for service, whether that person is a victim, witness or suspect" says Adam. "Policing isn't just about driving fast and making arrests. It is about having respect for everyone in your community and taking a few extra minutes to ask people what you can do to help them. This builds trust, which results in more participation from the public when you seek investigative information."

A big part of true Community Policing practices, is training and educating your community members in as many topics of crime awareness as you can, and teaching them how to keep their neighborhoods a less attractive target to criminals. "Citizens need to know what signs to look for when there is a drug market operating in their neighborhood. They need to know the difference between 'Tagger' graffiti and gang graffiti, and how to read the graffiti, so they can help the police determine where a hot spot may be building. They need to understand what factors can bring a car thief or burglar to their neighborhood and how to institute CPTED (Crime Prevention through Environmental Design) practices for better security and deterrence."

For these reasons, CSN has signed two members to their advisory board who have been very active in the Colorado Springs communities since 1991. Dennis Moore, AKA "Mr. Neighborhood Watch" is well known in Colorado Springs and across the country. After a long career in the Air Force, he retired and joined the Sand Creek Division Citizen Advisory Committee for the Colorado Springs Police Department in 1995 where he served until 2012. Dennis has been a Block Watch Captain for more than 22 years and has been a volunteer with CSPD for over 15 years. In 2008, Mr. Moore was assigned as the Neighborhood Watch Coordinator and trainer for CSPD and has successfully coordinated and trained more than 800 Block Watch groups. Dennis resigned his position April of this year and has accepted a position on the NewStart Solutions board to pursue their crime awareness Edu-Video Course-Ware solution.

The second person that CSN has added to their team of professionals is Will Lamkin. Will is also an Air Force veteran and has worked alongside Dennis with CSPD since January of 2004. He is an experienced crime prevention, personal safety and self defense instructor. Like Dennis, Will holds several certifications in the crime prevention field. He is a certified International Crime Prevention Practitioner, and a Refuse to be a Victim instructor through the NRA. Will is also authorized to conduct CPTED surveys and residential security evaluations. Both members have enthusiastically agreed to join the CSN team, which continues to grow.
