Simran Vedvyas Appointed as Global Youth Ambassador by a World at School Dubai UAE
Dubai, United Arab Emirates, May 22, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Every child has a right to education. Yet, around the world 57 million children remain out of primary school. More than half of these children – 31 million – are girls. There are 250 million children in school but not learning. The struggle for education remains a matter of life and death.
A firm believer that education is the answer to the greatest challenges we face as a society, Simran Vedvyas, also the founder of SynergY youth group in Dubai takes up the appointment as Global Youth Ambassador at A World at School Organization in the region. A world at School is an International Organization with a diverse team from several countries and having offices in UK and USA.
“Global Youth Ambassadors group – launched earlier this year by the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and the United Nations Special Envoy for Global Education Gordon Brown has provided youth like me a challenging opportunity by this appointment to rally so that no girl or boy is denied education and making this a reality, for which I feel empowered because the world truly needs more education and I commit to help,” says the newly appointed Global Youth Ambassador Simran. Discussing her plans and future action Simran highlighted working together with supporters to organize and mobilize more youth to stand up for the cause by joining this global campaign. She seeks support from the corporates and local stakeholders to achieve better quality education and running virtual classes for poor and needy children in the region.
Simran, who has been an active volunteer with Dubai Cares since the past five years, has carried the Olympic Torch as torch-bearer at the 2012 London Olympics and has also twice won two prestigious awards namely; Hamdan Award for Distinguished Academic Excellence awarded by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Makhtoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and the Minister of Finance and Industry of UAE and The Sharjah Educational Award awarded by His Highness Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohamed Al Qassimi, Ruler of Sharjah and member of Supreme Council of UAE. She understands the importance of Education well and is strong headed in committing her youth group SynergY, powered by Cosmo Foundation with over 300 determined youth in UAE and India to support the cause and rally to improve learning for all children because we can lift more than 170 million people out of poverty simply by teaching every child in low-income countries basic reading skills.
Simran recently moderated the e-discussion "To End Child Poverty Post 2015" by the UN Major Group on Children and Youth, ODI and UNICEF and has been awarded with the coveted Youth Environmental Conservation Award by John Muir Association USA.
