Hugh Smith Joins SPS Team

Fort Lauderdale, FL, May 24, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Hugh Smith, an independent energy and facility adviser based in South Florida since 2005, has associated with Sustainable Performance Solutions (SPS) as a specialist in energy and sustainability for hospitality properties. In that capacity he will assist SPS’ hotel and resort clients with various types and levels of energy studies and audits, and with preparation of sustainability action plans. Smith was most recently involved with the Florida Green Lodging Program, part of the state’s Department of Environmental Protection, providing resource information to implement sustainable standards and practices in Florida hotels. He has 35 years of responsible experience and extensive technical knowledge in physical plant administration. As former Vice President of Operations for Wyndham Hotels, he gained first-hand experience with all aspects of the hospitality industry, including off-shore and commercial properties. In his previous role of Vice President of Engineering for Radisson Hotels, he developed and implemented energy saving strategies and action plans, including low cost/no cost recommendations; high payback retrofit capital projects; and future planning. Prior to his hospitality experience, he worked in Facility Operations for two major universities in Washington, D.C. Smith is a Certified Hotel Administrator and LEED Green Associate.
