Shaw’s extensive track record of successful real estate development projects makes him the ideal partner to continue the FRA’s vision to build a world class life science district at Fitzsimons.
Aurora, CO, May 30, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Fitzsimons Redevelopment Authority (FRA) has selected John M. Shaw as a consultant to oversee its real estate projects in the Colorado Life Science District at Fitzsimons. The announcement is made by Steve VanNurden, FRA President & CEO, who says, "John brings more than three decades of leadership and experience in successful real estate development, operational management and civic engagement to FRA’s projects.”
Over his career, Shaw has managed the development of more than 20 million square feet of commercial properties throughout the western United States. He recently left his position as Executive Vice President of McWhinney, a Colorado-based development company with significant assets in Loveland, Broomfield and Denver.
Further, VanNurden says, “John’s extensive track record of successful real estate development projects makes him the ideal partner to continue the FRA’s vision to build a world class life science district at Fitzsimons.”
About John M. Shaw
Shaw led Opus Denver and Kansas City operations and the execution of all development work undertaken in the regions. Under John’s leadership, the Denver office generated approximately $100 million in revenue annually and successfully completed more than 7 million square feet of commercial properties since opening in January 1995. The Kansas City office created approximately $60 million in revenues annually and successfully completed more than 2.5 million square feet of commercial properties since opening in 1999.
As Senior Vice President of the Denver Technological Center, he managed the land planning, zoning, development, architectural control, marketing and sales activities associated with this nationally recognized 750-acre mixed use business park and the 1,150-acre Meridian International Business Center.
Previously Shaw served as President of the Colorado Chapter of the National Association for Industrial and Office Parks (NAIOP) and was honored as its Developer of the Year. He is also an Honorary Lifetime Board Member and past Chairman of the Metro Denver Boys and Girls Club. Shaw is President of the University of Colorado Real Estate Foundation Board of Directors.

In April, FRA in conjunction with the University of Colorado broke ground on the new Bioscience 2 building.
