Raleigh, NC, January 17, 2006 --(PR.com)-- The Women’s Forum of North Carolina has announced that they will host a special production of Menopause The Musical on Wednesday, February 1 at 7:30 p.m. at the Fletcher Opera Theater in the Progress Energy Performing Arts Center in downtown Raleigh in memory of Brenda McFall Dougherty, former president of the Women’s Forum of North Carolina, who died from ovarian cancer. A gala party with producer/writer Jeanie Linders will be held at the Capital City Club from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. Proceeds from the performance will support ovarian cancer research and the NC Center for Women in Public Service, an organization that prepares women to seek and serve in public offices. For tickets, call Melinda Baran, ticket chair, at (919) 783-0040.
Menopause The Musical, produced and written by Jeanie Linders, is a 90 minute production which includes 25 re-lyricized tunes from the 60’s and 70’s and culminates with a salute to women who are experiencing “The Change.” The musical pokes fun at things such as hot flashes, memory loss, mood swings and more. Menopause The Musical encourages a healthy dialogue about issues of aging and women’s health and provides a unique opportunity to raise awareness with female audiences.
“The Women’s Forum of North Carolina is pleased to find a way to raise awareness and inform women on ovarian cancer and address the issues of women’s health and aging in an educational and entertaining venue,” said Linda Leake, Benefit Chair, Women’s Forum of NC.
“Menopause The Musical offers great inspiration to women from around the world. The show has the power to captivate audiences on an extremely important topic that affects women everywhere,” said Linders.
