Based on information gathered from 691 breach investigations in 24 countries, a recent Trustwave report revealed a 33 percent increase in the theft of financial credentials, PII, customer records, internal communications and other sensitive information not affiliated with payment cards. And according to a study conducted by Ponemon Institute, the average cost of data breach to a company was $3.5 million and 15 percent more than what it cost last year.
