Cosmo Films Strengthens Its Exports with a New SEZ Plant
With 60 percent of company’s sales coming from exports & International operations and increased focus on specialty, innovative and value added products, Cosmo Films demarcates its newly opened Shendra plant especially for exports.
Aurangabad, India, June 04, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The third Indian manufacturing location set up by Cosmo Films at Shendra, Aurangabad last year is fully operational now and working to its capacity to meet the growing export and international operations demands; originating largely from Europe, Japan and Americas.
The $45 million Shendra plant, which is dedicated to handle the export requirements of the company, is located in the Special Economic Zone (SEZ), close to Aurangabad, approx. 400 km from Mumbai. The plant is the company’s third manufacturing set up in India.
The plant has one BOPP and three extrusion coating lines in order to cater to global demand which is more skewed towards coating films. In fact; the plant will also have a chemical coating and a metallizer line installed by October this year. The BRC certified plant has production capacity of 40,000 metric tonnes of BOPP and 9,600 metric tonnes of thermal laminating films. With this addition, the total installed capacity of the company has gone up to 1, 36,000 TPA for BOPP; 40,000 TPA for thermal laminating films; 5,000 TPA for coated films and 8,000 TPA for metalized films.
“A separate plant with exports focus is very much in line with company’s intent to expand the global footprint; still on the path of consolidation,” said Pankaj Poddar, Chief Executive Officer, Cosmo Films.
