Press Dispensary Sets Up First UK PR Bureau in Second Life
Lewes, United Kingdom, October 17, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Press Dispensary (http://www.pressdispensary.co.uk), the UK-based specialist press release services company, is the first European agency to set up a permanent bureau in Second Life (SL) and one of a mere handful of PR agencies world-wide to embrace public relations in the rapidly expanding 3D virtual world, which now has 9.9m users.
Press Dispensary is seeing a steady flow of ‘real world’ clients who want to talk about their activities in Second Life. Recent commissions include announcing a SL presence for the band, Oasis, which launched a preview of its forthcoming DVD, ‘Lord Don’t Slow Me Down’, in the virtual world; the opening of a SL cancer care centre for Macmillan, marked by a coffee morning, club party and auction as part of its ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ fundraiser; and the promotion of the business park, Blue Horizons, for SL full-service specialist, New Business Horizons. Further major brand announcements are expected soon.
According to Press Dispensary CEO, Robert Shepherd, the agency also takes business from real world clients who want to reach Second Life residents, and Second Life-only businesses that want to reach SL and the real world. Press Dispensary has a direct RSS news feed in several locations around Second Life and will be adding further locations soon.
Robert Shepherd comments: “Second Life is thriving as a business communications tool. It is currently going through the phase that the internet went through when the ‘joy riders’ and non-commercial early adopters had to accept the arrival of serious commerce. With Gartner predicting that 80% of people will have an avatar in a virtual world by 2010, and 32% of SL users coming from Europe, we set up our SL bureau to help UK companies target valuable niche audiences directly through the growing SL community.”
