Lake Management Company “Recycles” Sports Equipment for Kids

Lake Management company in Metro Atlanta collects balls and others sports equipment found in client lakes and ponds for donation to youth programs.

Woodstock, GA, October 16, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Hundreds of soccer balls, footballs, basketballs, and other sports equipment items that had been recovered from local lakes and ponds by Aquascape Environmental have been donated to The Global Gear Drive, a program that distributes sports equipment to underprivileged children around the world.

Each year, in the course of maintaining clients’ lakes and ponds in communities around Metro Atlanta, Aquascape Environmental employees retrieve dozens of balls and other sports equipment. Items that are in good condition are saved and stored for annual donation to youth programs rather than being discarded and taking up space in landfills. This year, The Global Gear Drive, which is operated by the National Alliance for Youth Sports, was the selected recipient. Past recipients have included The Boys and Girls Club of Metro Atlanta, the Devereux Georgia Treatment Network in Kennesaw and the Greenbriar Children's Center in Savannah.

The Global Gear Drive program was created to put sports equipment in the hands of children around the world who wish to take part in quality sports activities but currently are unable to due to shortages of equipment. Donated equipment is distributed to countries in Africa, the Middle East, and the Caribbean.

Aquascape Environmental was founded in 1990 and is based in Woodstock, Georgia. The company provides lake management services for private property owners, residential communities, golf courses, and commercial developments, and presently cares for more than 900 acres of natural water systems in Georgia.
