Evolutionary Biologist-Creationist, Dr. Elisabet Sahtouris Resists the Non-Living Universe Assumption
In-depth interview with philosopher, biologist, ecologist, futurist and author, Elisabet Sahtouris, challenges Darwin’s fundamental assumptions about evolution and the creation story that underlies much of modern science.
Del Mar, CA, October 17, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Join host Alex Tsakiris when he interviews noted biologist and author Dr. Elisabet Sahtouris. During the 40-minute interview Sahtouris examines why scientists should be skeptical of their assumption that the universe is non-living:
“… the fundamental belief in Western science is that this is a non-living universe. No one has ever proved this. I don’t think anyone could prove it. It is an assumption. If I say I want to build a science based on the assumption this is a living universe scientists will say – prove it. But, they don’t have to prove their fundamental assumption that this is a non-living universe. Western science has developed the only culture in history, I think, that has developed the concept of non-life.”
Dr. Sahtouris also explains how our outdated hierarchical models of biology have given way to holarchical models, and how the same transformation is occurring in many of our social and political systems.

Dr. Elisabet Sahtouris is an evolution biologist, futurist, author, and consultant to organizations. In her unique approach, called "Living Systems Design," she applies the principles of biology and evolution to organizational development so that organizations may become more functional, healthy "living systems," with increased resilience, stability, and cooperation. Her books include EarthDance: Living Systems in Evolution (iUniverse, 2000), A Walk Through Time: From Stardust to Us (John Wiley & Sons, 1998), and Biology Revisioned, co-authored with Willis Harman (North Atlantic Books, 1998).
