Kamuela, HI, June 11, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The Big Island of Hawaii’s Kailua-Kona district is proud to be hosting a marathon, half-marathon and 10k and 5k races to raise funds for charities this June 22, 2014, announced LuxuryBigIsland.com, a premier luxury real estate website in the Aloha State.
Expecting around 2,000 runners of all ages, the race begins at the Keauhou Shopping Center on Ali’i Drive at Keauhou Bay at 6am, and ends at the Sheraton Kona Resort and Spa.
“The course for the race provides a breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean’s coastline, making this event a perfect chance at a different experience of the beautiful state of Hawaii,” explained Harold Clarke, a top luxury real estate expert and founder of LuxuryBigIsland.com.
In addition, through their participation, runners will be able to help raise funds for national charity institutions TeamChallenge, Lazarex Cancer Foundation, Susan G. Komen for the Cure Hawaii, as well as Hawaii charities Friends for Fitness, Special Olympics West Hawaii, and Peoples Advocacy for Trails Hawaii (PATH).
Aside from conquering the Kona marathon, runners can also choose from among many activities in the Kailua-Kona district, which is home to various historical sites, pristine beaches, and spectacular lava fields. They can take the trail at the Volcanoes National Park or stroll by the black sand beaches, where Hawaiian sea turtles – considered to be rare species –are occasionally sighted. They may also shop and dine at the Ali’i Drive, go snorkeling and scuba diving, or visit the sites of centuries-old petroglyphs or rock engravings.
“Hawaii is about the great outdoors, and this distinct island vibe and warmth that bind members of the community together. Events like the Kona Marathon perfectly embody these things, letting participants embrace sports, nature, and friendship. These are the just some of the privileges that come with living in Hawaii,” added Harold.
