D2 Technologies and NewPace Technology Demonstrate Rich IMS Communications Experience at Mobile Asia Expo 2014
D2 Technologies, the market leader in embedded IP communications software platforms, and NewPace Technology Development Inc., recently acquired by NewNet Communications Technologies, B.V., announced today that they are showcasing an implementation of the GSMA’s Network 2020 “green button” mobile network at the Mobile Asia Expo 2014.
Shanghai, China, June 10, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Joint IMS mobile solution delivers VoLTE (IR.92) with simultaneous ViLTE (IR.94) and rich communication services (RCS)
D2 Technologies, the market leader in embedded IP communications software platforms, and NewPace Technology Development Inc., recently acquired by NewNet Communications Technologies, B.V., announced today that they are showcasing an implementation of the GSMA’s Network 2020 “green button” mobile network. This live demonstration seamlessly combines comprehensive Rich Communication Services (RCS), VoLTE (IR.92) and ViLTE (IR.94) video call using Node-H’s LTE femtocell during Mobile Asia Expo 2014. The conference opens today at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC) and runs through June 13.
NewPace and D2 successfully completed end-to-end IMS interoperability testing of the joint solution, ensuring mobile network operators receive complete IMS functionality as they transition legacy voice services to LTE and begin to offer RCS, VoLTE and ViLTE (Video over LTE) via IMS.
“This demonstration provides operators a live experience of the mobile network of the future, where voice, data, video, and rich communication services are all natively embedded on mobile devices as a compelling product suite using modern IP technology,” said Brent Newsome, Vice President of Business Development, NewNet Messaging Business Unit. “It also demonstrates the versatility of NewPace’s RCS platform to operate in IMS and LTE environments.”
NewPace and NewNet’s portfolio of solutions includes a complete suite of RCS 5.1 services including: presence, instant messaging, group chat, file transfer, VoIP (IR.92) and video calling (IR.94), inter-operator routing (IR.90), IP Short-message Gateway (IP-SM-GW) and RCS network API solutions for mobile operators. This portfolio is unique in its ability to be deployed inside a mobile operator’s existing IMS network, alternatively as a stand-alone application in 2G and 3G networks for those who have not yet deployed IMS functionality, or as a hosted solution integrated with the operator network.
The Node-H LTE software runs on Broadcom’s LTE System-on-a-Chip, and supports 150Mbps downlink and 50Mbps uplink. The software targets residential and enterprise small cells. It incorporates solutions for Radio Resource Management, Self-Organizing Networks, Interference Management and Coordination, and it connects to the Evolved Packet Core through the standardized S1 interface, as well as supporting the X2 interface for intercell communication.
“We’re very happy to co-operate with D2 and Newpace to demonstrate that VoLTE is available and working right now,” said Mike Cronin, CEO of Node-H. “The seamless integration of VoLTE with other IMS services such as IR.94 and RCS all running over an LTE dedicated bearer provides the carrier-grade quality of service that subscribers demand.”
D2’s mCUE 4G is the most advanced IMS IP communications software solution for the Android OS platform, supporting the IR.92 VoLTE, IR.94 video calls and RCS (5.1 and joyn) GSMA standards to deliver IP communications features like HD voice, real time video call, instant message, presence, SMS and VCC on 3G, 4G LTE, and Wi-Fi networks. As the first IP communications client deployed by a 4G mobile operator, it is field proven and delivers carrier-grade voice and video quality, and demonstrated interoperability. mCUE 4G is a complete communications client, providing all key layers from the UI and protocol stacks, a fully embedded media engine that includes a complete VoIP DSP module with wideband CODECs, and optimized video framework integration that supports native hardware video acceleration. It is available in both embedded (native) and downloadable App versions, and is GSMA joyn Accredited.
“Now that VoLTE is gaining mainstream market adoption, D2 and partners such as NewPace and Node-H are leading the way in creating technology that delivers the next big thing in communications for subscribers,” said Doug Makishima, chief operating officer for D2 Technologies. “Operators can now meet customer demand for ease of use by layering ViLTE video calling and RCS to create an integrated and seamless ‘green button’ experience.”
Visitors to Mobile Asia Expo can view a demo of mCUE 4G running on a Google Nexus 5 by LG Android™ phone connecting to an IMS enabled RCS server from NewPace Technology via a Node-H LTE femtocell at the GSMA Network 2020 exhibit hall or by contacting D2 Technologies at marketing@d2tech.com.
