"art place berlin" Exhibition: Sands of Time - Paintings by David Snider
"My work emerges from an imagination that draws upon the memories and themes of my youth in America and the many paths I have taken in my life." – David Snider
Berlin, Germany, June 13, 2014 --(PR.com)-- "One is ever conscious of the transience of all things, and of nature’s smiling indifference, also that art is but imitation of nature.
"I can say that my work has been influenced by the Impressionists of Europe and by the Abstract Expressionists of America. They eliminate the boundaries of convention and allow the creative spirit to run free. My work with palette knife is like sculpting on canvas with all the means of expression and form it offers.
"The abstract works are meditative while the landscapes are born of impression, memories and fantasy, those endless paths through life that are the heart of my creative self. Art is long and time is fleeting, but to quote Shakespeare: ‘One touch of nature makes the whole world kin’." – David Snider
David Snider was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1950 and grew up in New England and Florida. He studied English and American Literature at the University of Massachusetts, the University of Leeds/UK and at the Albert-Ludwig-Universität in Freiburg i.B., and took a Bachelor of Arts Degree (cum laude) from the Univ. of Massachusetts in 1984. Subsequently, he took a BA (Hons) Degree from the Winchester School of Art/UK in 1998, since which time he has actively engaged his passion for painting.
