JoAnn Thomas of FANtastic Horror Film Festival Guests on Eye on Entertainment
San Diego Area Will be Horror Capital of the United States, October 31 to November 2.
Hollywood, CA, June 13, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Dawna Lee Heising of Eye on Entertainment interviewed FANtastic Horror Film Festival co-founder JoAnn Thomas about the three-day Horror Film Festival that will be held in the Gaslamp Quarter of San Diego from October 31 through November 2, 2014, as part of the city’s Gaslamp Halloween Celebration. The FANtastic Horror Film Festival provides an outlet for independent horror films with a focus on movie viewers and the filmmakers. Nearly Four Dozen Horror feature films and shorts of all genres will compete for honors and Oscar®-type awards, such as “Best Picture” and “Best Actor,” as well as genre-centric awards, such as, “Best FX,” “Most Gore,” and many other horror-specific categories.
The Festival will have all the attributes of a Hollywood Film Fest, including a kick-off party, multiple red carpet events, and an awards banquet. Invitations have been extended to special guests, including the leading indie horror actors today, local dignitaries and surprise attendees. Michael Thomas, Festival co-founder, notes, “We were deluged with films from all over the country, and it was physically impossible for JoAnn (Thomas) and I to review them all. So we recruited some of the top horror movie reviewers, internet hosts, podcasters and bloggers to help judge our entries.
“Our Judges’ job is to evaluate what is significant about the film, (gore, surprise, plot, etc.) The selection by the reviewers will be based on their insights into the films they have screened. From there we will choose the official selections for the festival. We will then hand the Official Selection choices over to the fans, as these films are for them. There will be two voting periods: one to recommend the individual nominations, and a second and final voting to recommend the winners for each award. The final selections will be voted on by the Awards Committee and announced at the Awards Banquet that weekend. Our main focus of the Festival is on the FANS of Horror, and what better way to do that than to have the FANS have a say in what goes into the Festival.”
Thomas summarizes, “If fans of Horror want a new horror experience, the opportunity to see films, brand-spanking-new horror, red-hot off the shelf, films you’ll not see for years, then the FANtastic Horror Film Festival is your only option for the freshest horror in the city. Plus our other activities make FHFF the total package. A general kick-off party, new Horror Films on the big screen where films belong, and an Awards Banquet - why would you want to spend Halloween weekend any other place?”
