Future Genesis (FGen) Announces Deal with Biomedical Research Institute (BRI)
Future Genesis (FGen) has selected Rockville, MD Biomedical Research Institute (BRI) as its cryogenic laboratory.
Washington, DC, June 12, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Future Genesis (FGen) has selected Rockville, MD Biomedical Research Institute (BRI) as its cryogenic laboratory.
The high tech start-up internet company, based in Washington, DC at Washington Harbour, provides top quality DNA Banking and Storage services at a price point that is affordable for all people. The firm’s website has an online marketplace where it sells a do-it-yourself Swab Kit, so customers can collect their DNA themselves at their convenience in their own homes. The site also sells Storage Packages for the permanent frozen storage of DNA samples, as well as the two items bundled together at a discount.
FGen stores the collected samples in BRI’s cryogenic freezers at -80° Celsius to ensure the quality and longevity of each customer’s unique DNA fingerprint.
“We are really excited to be working with BRI. They understand and appreciate the work FGen is doing to combat disease and bring high tech genetics to all people. They are a local firm, and we immediately felt the chemistry with their team,” said Jay Kaplan, the 23 year old internet entrepreneur and Founder and Chief Operating Officer of FGen.
BRI established the Biomedical Research Specimen Repository in 1977 to provide researchers with medical specimen archiving space for frozen samples. The fail-safe facility operates cryogenic freezers to support hospitals, research organizations and pharmaceutical firms at a variety of sub-zero temperatures. “We are happy to be working with FGen as they expand their internet DNA Banking and Storage service,” said Jim Russo, Director of BRI Bio-repository and Facilities.
“The opportunity to work with another local company is very attractive and exciting to us. We look forward to growing with BRI over the next several years,” said Kaplan.
