EmergiTech to Unveil Text Messaging Capability for IP9-1-1 System
Software to be demonstrated at National Emergency Number Association Conference & Expo.
Columbus, OH, June 15, 2014 --(PR.com)-- EmergiTech, a leader in public safety software development, will demonstrate the new capability of their Next Generation IP9-1-1 software for receiving 9-1-1 text messages at the National Emergency Number Association Conference & Expo on June 14-19, 2014. Through a partnership with AGENT511, the EmergiTech IP9-1-1 software now allows emergency call takers to respond to text messages that are sent to 9-1-1.
EmergiTech designed the IP9-1-1 software system from the ground up to be an easy-to-use, comprehensive and highly scalable software-based solution for emergency call centers. The addition of the text messaging component will help call centers update their technology to keep pace with current cellular technology used by consumers.
“With so many Americans, especially the younger generation, relying on texting as a primary means of communication, it is critical that 9-1-1 call centers have the ability to communicate with them via text messaging,” said B.J. Buss, regional sales manager at EmergiTech.
The ability of 9-1-1 call centers to receive text messages will also help accommodate people with a hearing impairment or speech disability. In addition, texting will aid in situations like domestic violence where making a phone call may be risky or impossible.
