Firewürst Launches “10,000 For 10,000” Summer Hunger Campaign
Local Restaurant Sets Goal to Sell 10,000 Hot Dogs in July and Pledges to Donate $10,000 to Support the Fight Against Childhood Summer Hunger
Raleigh, NC, June 18, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Firewürst, the leading provider of premium flame-grilled sausages, burgers and hot dogs, will launch its “10,000 for 10,000” Summer Hunger Campaign to benefit the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina on Tuesday, July 1. During the campaign, which will run throughout July, Firewürst has set a goal of serving 10,000 hot dogs and donating $10,000 of its proceeds to support the nonprofit’s Stop Summer Hunger Campaign. This initiative works to provide meals to children in need across 34 counties in Central and Eastern North Carolina throughout June and July.
Nearly 300,000 children in the Food Bank’s 34-county service area are enrolled in their school’s free and reduced-cost breakfast and lunch programs. Summer is a time of uncertainty for these children and their families, as nutritious, filling meals may be hard to come by when school is not in session. Through the “10,000 for 10,000” Summer Hunger Campaign, Firewürst seeks to reverse this trend and ensure no child has to experience the devastating effects of summer food scarcity in their lives.
In addition to its community commitment, Firewürst maintains a strong dedication to serving customers high quality, nutritious options including premium flame-grilled sausages and hot dogs that are 100 percent all-beef with no fillers. As July marks National Hot Dog month and in honor of the restaurant’s commitment to high-quality food, Firewürst will unveil a brand new dog – the Certified Angus Beef® hot dog – which is MSG, allergen and gluten free, made with a custom blend of all-natural spices and seasonings and free of artificial flavors and binders. Firewürst will offer the highest quality all-beef hot dog in the Triangle. The fast casual restaurant puts a twist on the traditional grilling options and has something for everyone. Firewürst’s menu includes regional dogs, build-your-own and original chef creations. In addition to its creative hot dog selection, the restaurant features premium sausages, burgers and firesides like house-made slaws, hand-cut fries and crispy onion tanglers.

Quotes:
“At Firewürst, we are invested in serving the local communities in which we live and work,” said Bill Morgenstern, CEO. “Our schools are dedicated to feeding children during the school year, but it is important that the community steps in to ensure that children are fed year-round. In July, Firewürst is excited to get the entire community involved in this initiative with the Food Bank and work together to end hunger in our area.”
“We are excited to work alongside Firewürst during the month of July to further involve the community in our mission: No One Goes Hungry, particularly as we highlight childhood hunger during the summer,” said Peter Werbicki, president and CEO of the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina. “The impact of a $10,000 donation means that we will be able to provide 50,000 meals to children this summer.”
