Seegrid Robotic Leader Focuses on Lean Management
Pittsburgh, PA, June 18, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Seegrid Corporation, the leader in robotic vision-guided automated guided vehicles (AGVs), recently continued the staff expansion to meet product demand. The Pittsburgh-based robotics leader welcomed Tim Chiocchio as the new lean project manager.
Chiocchio viewed Seegrid's flexible AGVs as revolutionizing materials handling. Chiocchio explained that Seegrid products provide businesses unlimited opportunities to eliminate many if not all of the seven wastes identified in lean manufacturing. Material movement is one of the biggest non-value-added activities in all processes. A well-planned material flow using Seegrid solutions will make companies safer and more profitable. Chiocchio will report to John Mazock, Vice President of Manufacturing.
Mazock noted, “Chiocchio’s background provides the means for him to effectively communicate to customers on process improvements. The ability to quickly engage and bring value to customers is what Seegrid is all about.”
Chiocchio gained most of his lean experience and training over the past 21 years, first working as at manufacturing manager at Sony Electronics. Chiocchio became a Six Sigma Black Belt and was ultimately responsible for coordinating, implementing, and sustaining all continuous improvement kaizen activity. He had several opportunities to visit Sony television facilities and other electronic manufacturing plants in the United States, Mexico, Japan, and South Korea. Participating in these kaizen events provided valuable training in process improvement activities and capturing best practices.
Chiocchio shared, “My position will require me to constantly learn, teach, and grow in the aspects of continuous improvement, lean manufacturing techniques, and become a better customer solution provider. I am looking forward to helping customers integrate Seegrid products and overall solutions into their process to generate new learning and best practices for both of us. This continuous lean education will broaden my skills and provide our customers with valuable insight into eliminating waste through automation.”
