Rider Revenge App Launches on Apple Store, Aims to Stop Distracted Driving

NJ Tech Start-up Closes Crowd-Funding Round, Meets Development Milestones and Pursues Pilot City to Stop Distracted Driving.

Madison, NJ, June 16, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Rider Revenge, the technology platform to reduce Distracted Driving, has announced the launch of their app’s prototype on Apple’s App Store. The launch comes on the heels of successfully closing the Company’s first round of crowd-funding.

"The launch of our prototype on the Apple Store is a significant development milestone for our company," said Peter Gallagher, Founder & CEO of Rider Revenge. "During the last two months, we have gained tremendous momentum. We closed our round of funding on Kiva Zip with nearly 200 lenders. Then we finished development of our beta prototype of the app. User feedback is helping us to shape and progress the app toward a full commercial product later this year."

The app is built on the company’s geo-specific, time-dependent mapping technology, called Crowd Spotting. The software collects the input from a high-volume number of individual users, and then aggregates the output to identify trends and generate actionable responses. For example, Rider Revenge, the free smartphone app for iPhones and iPads, enables vehicle passengers and pedestrians to anonymously report when they see a driver texting or otherwise distracted behind the wheel. Parents, fleet managers and local communities will all benefit from knowing where and when these dangerous driving behaviors are taking place. In addition, the Company is developing a proprietary User Interlock System to discourage drivers from using the app.

"Distracted Driving is an especially serious risk to young drivers," said Judy Cusick, a NJ-based biotech executive, mother and Member of the Company’s Advisory Board. "As parents, we can all do better to model the right behaviors behind the wheel. But the reality is that we also need to develop new, innovative solutions to stop Distracted Driving. Its taken decades for us as a society to change our attitude toward seat belts. We can’t wait that long for drivers to change their behaviors about texting-while-driving."

Last year more than 3,000 people were killed in Distracted Driving accidents across the country. According to Distraction.gov, 71% of teens and young people say that they have composed/sent a text message while driving.

Building on Rider Revenge’s recent advances, the Company has started to engage further in the local tech and investor communities. In fact, Rider Revenge was one of the tech startups recently selected to participate in the inaugural, oversubscribed New Jersey Founders & Funders event.

"We are pleased to offer another opportunity for our growing technology and life sciences companies to access the resources they need to thrive in New Jersey,” said EDA Chief Executive Officer Michele Brown. “By directly connecting companies with investors, New Jersey Founders & Funders will serve to complement the Christie Administration’s ongoing efforts to spur innovation, entrepreneurship and job creation in the State.”

"Our mission to stop Distracted Driving gets people excited. They feel like now they can do something when they see a distracted driver," Peter Gallagher commented. "Plus, its exciting to see how our technology is starting to resonate with Users. Our goal now is to find that City or Town in New Jersey that wants to put our prototype to work, so we can accelerate our efforts to develop a full-scale, commercial platform."

About Rider Revenge
Rider Revenge is a Big Data mobile technology platform with a vision to significantly reduce deaths, accidents and traffic congestion caused by Distracted Driving. Powered by Crowd Spotting, the application is the first of the company’s prototypes to translate high-volume, geo- and time-dependent inputs into aggregated output and analysis. Vehicle passengers and pedestrians use Rider Revenge to report Spottings of Distracted Driving, which are then mapped and shared with the community. Drivers will be prevented from using the app via a proprietary User Interlock System.

Rider Revenge is a technology start-up headquartered in Madison, New Jersey. The iOS version of the app prototype is available as a free download for iPhones and iPads on Apple’s App Store. For more information, visit www.RiderRevenge.com.
