Chris Oates is an associate in Gowlings’ Toronto office, practising in the area of privacy, advertising, marketing and regulatory law. Chris’s practice includes advising clients on privacy law, including drafting and reviewing privacy policies and advising on privacy in the context of social media, consumer marketing campaigns, electronic commerce and Canada's new anti-spam legislation. His practice also includes all matters pertaining to direct-to-consumer marketing.
Matt Vernhout - CPO & Manager, Deliverability: Inbox Marketer
Matthew is Inbox Marketer's Chief Privacy Officer and Manager of Deliverability. His long time involvement in the privacy and anti-spam community dates back to the early 2000's and the US CAN-SPAM legislation. In 2004, Matthew was invited to participate in the Canadian Federal Anti-Spam Task Force (FAST-F) which developed the early guidelines for the anti-spam legislation framework in Canada. Matthew currently sits on the Executive Board for the Coalition Against Unsolicited Commercial Email (CAUCE) and the Direct Marketing Association of Canada (DMAC). Matthew has also held the designation Certified Information Privacy Professional Canada (CIPP/C) since 2008.
