INDIECAN10k Female Seeking Success
Winner of the Indiecan10k challenge in BC needs support to make her female-led film about music and love in a technology-driven era.
Vancouver, Canada, June 25, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The INDIECAN10K is a thrilling new initiative started by renowned filmmaker, producer, and distributor, Avi Federgreen that supports Canadian independent and low-budget feature films get made for $10,000 or less.
The BC champion and award-winning short filmmaker, Melanie Jones is the only female writer/director out of 7 jury-selected teams. She must now raise $10K to bring her first feature film, FSM (Female Seeking Male) from script to screen. She needs your help to make this dream a reality.
Founder of INDIECAN Entertainment, Avi Federgreen states: "I couldn't be happier about FSM being selected. The team is solid and the film as a whole will represent BC proudly. Melanie Jones is a great example of why we need to encourage our emerging filmmakers across the country, especially women. She's passionate, talented and a true force. Canada needs to support this great film and this amazing team of filmmakers!"
According to statistics collected by BC Women in Film and Television and Please Adjust Your Sets, “…women constitute only 4% of feature film directors, 11% of writers and 13% of editors.” Canada needs female directors and Melanie Jones is a filmmaker with a promising future.

FSM: Female Seeking Male follows Samantha, an up-and-coming underground DJ in Vancouver, trying to find love in a world where connection and our sense of self are increasingly mediated by technology.
The film has the music industry as its backdrop and has received incredible support from the local underground music community.
Local artist and promoter Matt Troy has joined forces with the team and DJ Kasey Riot has a cameo role, as well as providing original music for the film. Local artists Howl Sound and Toronto Band, South of Bloor are also supplying music for the film and soundtrack.
"I'm very excited to be a part of FSM to give the world a taste of the growing underground Electronic scene here in Vancouver and help showcase some incredible Canadian talent," says Kasey Riot, Electro/Tech-House DJ and Producer from Vancouver.
