Foodservice Product Manufacturer Cambro Recognizes Bayer MaterialScience LLC for Quality Materials, Customer Service
Pittsburgh, PA, June 26, 2014 --(PR.com)-- As the saying goes, if you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. That’s certainly true of the demanding food service industry, where products need to withstand daily wear and tear, including rough handling and industrial cleaning processes, while still meeting food safety requirements. As such, the materials used to produce foodservice products must be equally up to the task. Cambro Manufacturing, a manufacturer of foodservice products for restaurants, schools, hotels, hospitals and other markets, relies on a variety of materials from Bayer MaterialScience LLC.
Cambro has named Bayer a 2013 Diamond Class Gold Level “Quality Assurance Vendor.” The company utilizes a variety of Bayer materials, primarily Makrolon® polycarbonate, which can be found in such products as drinkware, barware, food storage containers, dinnerware, measuring cups, trays, food storage containers, boxes and pans.
“Makrolon polycarbonate from Bayer offers the qualities and expectation that Cambro products require,” said Ed Berecz, director of materials and customer support at Cambro. “Bayer is an ideal supplier and continues to offer exceptional engineering, quality and material handling support.”
Polycarbonate provides clear advantage
Cambro has utilized polycarbonate from Bayer since 1979. Currently, Cambro uses Makrolon 2856 polycarbonate, a food contact quality grade from Bayer. Makrolon polycarbonate provides many benefits for food industry-related products, including exceptional durability and clear visibility, which is necessary to determine food amount and quality.
Furthermore, polycarbonate is able to withstand the industrial cleaners and high-temperature water typical to commercial dishwashers.
“Cambro is a leader in food safety, innovation, and product quality and our polycarbonate material is able to meet their requirements. Products for the foodservice industry must also be very durable,” said John Martin, key account manager, Polycarbonates, Bayer MaterialScience LLC. “Polycarbonate is one of the only materials that brings both transparency and impact strength to the final product.”
About the Cambro Award
Cambro rates the performance of its U.S. suppliers annually using the Cambro Vendor Performance Rating System (CVPRS). Bayer was segmented into the quality assurance group and further segmented into the diamond (large) class, a group based on the size of company. Cambro awards top suppliers in each category.
Quality assurance suppliers are rated on the following scale: 60 percent for quality performance, 30 percent for on-time delivery performance, and 10 percent on lead time. Bayer's overall score in 2013 was 98.62 percent, with Bayer attaining a 100 percent quality performance rating, a 99.64 percent on-time rating, and an average lead time of 38 days.
